Goode to oversee system's emergency medicine efforts

Christopher Goode, M.D., has been named assistant vice president of the WVU Medicine Physician Services Division and medical director, Emergency Medicine.

In his new role, Dr. Goode will oversee quality efforts of emergency medicine services within Ruby Memorial Hospital and other West Virginia University Health System facilities, and also serve as a liaison with various hospital and emergency department programs in the region, monitoring efficiency, quality, throughput and staffing efforts.

He will help build a network and oversee care coordination efforts of hospitals, emergency departments and urgent care settings that operate under the WVU Medicine umbrella.

“Chris will lead an integrated group that will help define the standards and protocols for patient care in the emergency departments at the hospitals WVU Medicine will be staffing with our best and brightest doctors of this specialty,” said Dan Martich, M.D, System Chief Medical Officer and President of Physician Services. “He will also serve as the vice chair of the UHA Department of Emergency Medicine under Dr. Ian Martin and collaborate with clinical, operational, and financial leadership and staff, to achieve system performance goals.”

Goode is no stranger to network-building. He was instrumental in building the clinical practices at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, W.Va., St. Joseph’s in Buckhannon, W.Va., and two Urgent Care operations and Student Health at WVU.

He is associate medical director for HealthNet Aeromedical Services, a statewide, hospital-based air medical service that serves Ruby Memorial and other hospitals throughout the state, and medical director for numerous local EMS agencies in north central West Virginia.

Goode is a member of the board of directors and past president of the WV chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

A native of Chelyan, in Kanawha County, W.Va., Goode earned his medical degree from Marshall University, and was a resident in the WVU Emergency Medicine Department.
