Update: Fitness center to move to southeast tower; 'Fitness Pod' now open
Effective April 16, the fitness center housed in the WVU Cancer Institute/Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center will close. It will be relocated to the fourth floor of the southeast tower of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and re-open on July 18.
The new hours of operation will be: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday with unlimited access on Saturday and Sunday.
The Ruby Cafeteria Fitness Pod, a 1,000-square-foot space on the fourth floor of the southeast tower (just past the Ruby Cafeteria cashiers), will house fitness equipment that can be used by members 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It opens Tuesday, April 17.
There will not be a card reader to gain access to the space. Employees are asked to change and leave their belongings in their work area or office due to limited space.
Also during the closure, three local fitness centers are offering "gap period" memberships. The options are:
- Anytime Fitness Gap Membership
- Human Performance Lab Gap Membership
- WVU Student Rec Center Gap Membership
