Interprofessional Education Speaker Series to cover fall prevention

Event Date: 10/21/2015 from 11:30 AM - 01:00 PM

The WVU Health Sciences Center Interprofessional Education (IPE) Speaker Series will continue with a presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Hostler Auditorium, located on the ground floor of HSC North. A four-person panel will discuss "A Community-Based Interprofessional Fall Prevention Project in an Assisted/Independent Living Facility."

The speakers are as follows.

The HSC IPE Speaker Series, developed by Rachel T. Abraham, M.D., M.P.H., for the HSC Office for Interprofessional Education, was approved as an ongoing program in August 2014. It will provide continuing education credits (CDE, CME, CNE, CPH, Certificate of Attendance for OT and PT and pending credits for pharmacy) for the various disciplines through July 31, 2016.

This month's speakers are part of a “Community-Based Care” (CBC) project funded by a sub-grant from the Office of IPE, thanks to a grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. The funding supports interprofessional practice through community-campus partnerships led by WVU HSC faculty and students.

For catering purposes, those planning to attend the Oct. 21 presentation should RSVP to ipespeakerseries@hsc.wvu.edu by Wednesday, Oct. 14.
