Joint Commission full survey to occur between now and Aug. 22

The Joint Commission will conduct a full survey for WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals, including a behavioral health survey, between now and Aug. 22.

In preparation for this visit, the Joint Commission has released three survey template agendas – a general Hospital Survey Agenda, a Life Safety Survey Agenda, and a Behavior Health Survey Agenda. According to the agendas, the survey will likely begin on a Monday or Tuesday.

The hospital accreditation survey team and the number of days they will be on campus is:

  • ambulatory specialist (two days)
  • generalist (four days)
  • engineer (three days)
  • administrator (four days)
  • physician (four days)
  • nurse (four days)

A generalist will survey the Behavioral Health Care Program for two days.

Any and all staff members may be asked questions by a surveyor, so employees should maintain a goal of “continuous compliance,” while performing their duties, according to Aaron Kocsis, RN, regulatory coordinator with the Center for Quality Outcomes.

The last full survey was in 2015 and WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals received accreditation for all services.

Contact Kocsis with any questions.
