Materials Handling gets a new name: Supply Chain Operations

Beginning Monday, Dec. 19, the Materials Handling Department at WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals is officially changing its name to Supply Chain Operations.

“We want our department name to better reflect the work that we do,” said Director Tim Shafer. “The supply chain represents the steps that it takes to get a product or service to the customer.”

Shafer stressed that while that department name is changing, the group’s vision remains the same: “to get the right product to the right place at the right time.

“The work that happens in our department directly impacts the care our patients receive,” said Shafer. “We know that and are constantly striving for excellence. We take a lot of pride in the work that we do.”
