Morgantown Polar Plunge happening Feb. 27

The 2016 Morgantown Polar Plunge, which supports the West Virginia Special Olympics, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, at Star City Park and Marina. WVU Medicine is a sponsor.

Participants who register for the event will collect donations from family and friends in the weeks leading up to the event. At the event, they'll plunge into the Monongahela River. Many will be dressed in creative costumes.

Registration begins at noon, the costume contest gets underway at 1:15 p.m., and the event starts at 2 p.m. The event will be followed by an "After Plunge Party" at Kegler's, 735 Chestnut Ridge Road, Morgantown.
