New tool for patients will remind providers to perform hand hygiene

In an effort to promote hand hygiene, Patient Empowerment Tools will be distributed to patients on 6 East, 8 East and 8 West starting Monday, Dec. 7

Patients are encouraged to use the tools every time they see a healthcare professional who forgets to wash or sanitize his or her hands. The goal of this project is to promote patient safety and to empower patients to be involved in their care.

Soon, this effort will be implemented housewide in the inpatient units.
