New transition hospitality lounge improves patient flow
WVU Healthcare’s new hospitality lounge, located in the former waiting area on the eighth floor of Ruby Memorial, is available to house and transition clinically stable patients from the hospital while also freeing beds for incoming patients.
Run by Care Management, the lounge opened in 2014 and offers a variety of amenities, including: coffee, tea, juice and other soft drinks, snacks, meals, ipads, TVs, books, newspapers and magazines. Reclining chairs are available for patient comfort.
The lounge can accommodate seven or eight patients who have been discharged but are waiting for transportation or for their prescriptions to be filled. It is in operation Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., but if a patient doesn’t have transportation within that time frame, the patient will be accommodated in another area of the hospital.
A Patient Family Liaison is available to answer questions or concerns.
