Nicole Werwie, a second year medical student at WVU School of Medicine, presented her research at the WVCTSI (West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute) Annual Meeting on December 1, 2016 at Stonewall Jackson Resort in Roanoke, WV. 


Nicole was selected to participate in the MS1 INTRO Summer Research Program during the summer of 2016, where she worked alongside her mentor, Dr. Linda Vona-Davis in the WVU Cancer Institute. 

Nicole's project title in the MS1 INTRO program was "Examining the Prognostic Significance of Select Inflammatory Cytokines Using an Open-Source Genomics Platform Reveals Novel Expression Patterns across Breast Carcinoma Subtypes".  Through the MS1 INTRO program. Nicole used the Web source cBioPortal to correlate cytokine and growth genomic data with clinical data on breast cancer survival.
