Nominations for employee representative on WVU Hospitals' Board of Directors now being accepted

Nominations for the employee representative on the WVU Hospitals' Board of Directors are now being accepted. To nominate someone, go to http://nt-intranet.wvuh.wvuhs.com/plsql/oracle/bod_badge_verify.

WVUH has a 17-member board, and one member is a hospital employee who is elected by staff. Mark Smith is the current employee representative on the board. Since Smith has served for one term, he will be eligible for re-election if nominated.

All employees listed on the official WVUH payroll records as of June 1, 2018, are eligible. Nominations will be accepted until 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 27.

The three employees who receive the most nominations will be eligible for the election, which will run Thursday, July 5, through Friday, July 20.

The employee receiving the most votes will be named to the Board of Directors on July 27 and will begin his or her term Wednesday, Aug. 1.

The elected employee representative is a very important member of the hospital’s Board of Directors. The responsibilities and duties of the role include:

  • Understanding and demonstrating a commitment to the corporation's mission.
  • Keeping up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization.
  • Contributing skills and knowledge by participating actively in board and committee meetings.
  • Ensuring the corporation is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.
