Organizational emergency preparedness gets boost with updates

Emergency Management has updated three web pages to help WVU Medicine employees with emergency preparedness and response.

A printable poster with emergency codes is available, as well as an organizational disaster response plan and departmental code response plans, or incident action plans (IAPs). The pages are availabe in Sharepoint; users may need to provide their WVU Medicine username and password to access the pages.

Organizational disaster response plans are a list of policies, procedures, and plans designed to address specific hazards and threats, as identified through the organization’s hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) process. The response plans are divided into five categories: severe weather, tornado, flood (external), cyber attack, and power failure.

Departmental code response plans or incident action plans (IAPs) are designed to supplement organizational disaster response plans by providing detailed responses to specific incidents for individual departments. A total of 44 plans are available for specific departments or units.

Employees can click on the links or access all three pages via the “Emergency Response Codes” section on CONNECT.
