Ortiz to coordinate move to new southeast tower

Mike Ortiz, assistant vice president of support services, is coordinating the opening and transition to the new southeast tower at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The 10-story tower will create space for 114 beds and be operational by the first quarter of 2017.

Over the next months, Ortiz will be contacting units and administrators to develop timelines for the transition.

Once construction is complete, the next steps will be to make it operational, which includes wiring the building for computers and other technology, stocking the floors with carts and other equipment, installing beds and more, Ortiz said.

The final part of the transition involves closing areas in Ruby that will move to the tower and re-allocating that space.
