Public speaking and presentation skills is the topic of new CEOD course

The Center for Education and Organizational Development (CEOD) is offering a new course, "Public Speaking and Presentation Skills: Presenting with Confidence," which will be offered Wednesday, June 14, and Wednesday, Aug. 16. Employees can enroll through NetLearning.

Through this course, participants will learn to connect with an audience and deliver information in a more interesting way. Other skills being taught are:

  • controlling nervousness and anxiety to speak with enthusiasm and confidence
  • learning tools to control your pace, pitch, and power to gain and maintain your audience’s attention
  • using transition phrases to sound conversational while moving seamlessly through talking points
  • using a regrouping technique to keep from losing confidence or sputtering when making a mistake
