Pumpkin-decorating contest is Oct. 31

All employees are invited to participate in a pumpkin-decorating contest from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Ruby Cafeteria.

All proceeds will benefit WVU Medicine's Rosenbaum Family House.

Individual and group entries are welcome.

Pumpkins should be no larger than 12 inches in diameter and be decorated in a family-friendly style.

There will be two categories this year: one for carved pumpkins and one for decorated (e.g., painted) pumpkins. No real candles should be used. Each category will have winners.

Participants must drop off pumpkins to the Ruby Cafeteria beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, with an entry form. Voting begins at 8 a.m.

Employees can vote for their favorite pumpkin by purchasing tickets from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ruby Cafeteria. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six tickets.

The prizes for each category are:

  • first place – pizza party
  • second place – $25 Walmart gift card
  • third place – ENJOY coupon book

After the contest, all pumpkins will be transported to Family House for guest enjoyment.
