School of Public Health professor appointed to Residency Review Committee

Carl Werntz, DO, MPH, an associate professor in Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences and Occupational Medicine in the WVU School of Public Health, has been named to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Residency Review Committee for Preventive Medicine.

The Committee oversees 70 residencies in Occupational Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, and General Preventive Medicine and Public Health.  Additionally, the Preventive Medicine Residency Review Committee helps to oversee fellowships in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, Medical Toxicology, and Medical Informatics.

Dr. Werntz has served in the leadership of the Occupational Medicine residency for the past 13 years and as the Interim Program Director for the past 3 years.  He is currently the only physician from West Virginia University to serve on a Residency Review Committee.
