School of Public Health to host blood drive

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The School of Public Health at West Virginia University, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is holding a blood drive on Monday, Nov. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center Atrium.

The blood drive was organized by graduate student Tanner Coles.  “Many people do not understand the tremendous effect of blood donation,” said Coles, who is working toward a master’s degree in public health. “Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood and a single donation has the potential to save up to three lives.”

Refreshments will be provided for those donating blood. Blood donors must be generally in good health and cannot have donated blood within the last 56 days. For more information regarding eligibility requirements, or to pre-register, please visit www.redcrossblood.org.
