Single-stream recycling service available

A variety of materials, including plastic, paper, and glass, can now be recycled at nurses’ stations and break rooms on each floor of Ruby Memorial Hospital.

WVU Medicine Environmental Services will collect recyclables placed in blue bins on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The WVU Office of Sustainability will assist with transporting recyclables to a processing facility.

Items accepted for recycling include: clear, green, and brown glass; aluminum and steel cans; drink cartons (e.g., milk, juice); cardboard (corrugated and non-corrugated); paper (office paper, newspaper, shredded paper placed in a bag, and glossy magazines); and plastic containers and bottles (#1-#7).

Food and liquid waste, paper towels, napkins, plastic bags, and Styrofoam are not accepted at the recycling bins.

There are plans to expand the WVU Medicine recycling service to other locations in the future.
