SPH faculty receive grant awards

Congratulations to the following SPH faculty members on their recent awards:

• Chris Martin received $391,795 for another year of funding for the Appalachian Training Program in Occupational Health and Safety program funded by CDC/NIOSH. This is the 13th consecutive year that the program has been funded at WVU. Co-investigators are Anna Allen, Ashish Nimbarte and Steven Guffey.
• George Kelley received $154,000 to support a 2-year project titled Exercise and Adiposity in Overweight and Obese Children and Adolescents: A Network Meta-Analysis from the American Heart Association. 
• Alfgeir Kristjansson received $27,500 to support a third year of funding for the ICE Collaborative in Wood County from the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund. Michael Mann serves as a co-investigator. 
• David Parker received $897,914 in new funding for FY 2017 for six projects funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. These projects provide health-based case management to individuals who are chronically homeless across West Virginia. 
• Michael R. Brumage and Britany E. Canady from Marshall University will serve as Co-Principal Investigators on a $49,800 pilot project award from the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute titled Resilience Training for First Responders in the Opioid Epidemic. Keith Zullig serves as a co-investigator.
