Sweet retreat: Employee Appreciation Picnic is today
Employees are invited to WVU Medicine’s Employee Appreciation Picnic as it celebrates with a Candy Land-themed event on Thursday, Aug. 2.
The night-shift event will be held from 12:30-3:30 a.m., and the day-shift event will take place from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Both events will be held in the west concourse of Milan Puskar Stadium, so take a break and lolli-pop on over.
Both the day- and night-shift events will include a delicious menu of food (vegetarian options available), drinks, and delicious desserts, as well as live musical entertainment, games, prizes, a photo booth, and tasty concessions.
Employees are reminded to bring their ID badge for entry into the picnic and to participate in the drawings for prizes. Keep in mind, admittance is only permitted once, no double entries.
Below is a schedule of shuttle services for employees' convenience:
- A shuttle will run between the picnic location and entrance to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital for the duration of both the night-shift and day-shift events.
- A shuttle will run between the picnic and Operations Support Center (ROC 2) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Shuttles will continue to run their normal schedule for off-campus parking.
Department tables
Employees will find plenty of activities and giveaways provided by participating groups and departments.

Raffle prizes
Entry for the raffle prizes will be available to everyone electronically the day of the picnic. There will be stations set up at the picnic. For those who are unable to attend the event, no worries; you can still enter to win a prize by using this link. Remember, the link will only be active from 12:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2. Each employee will have three chances to select a prize (you can select the same prize more than once to increase your chances of winning), however, you will only be able to fill out the form one time. Prize selections can be changed but once the "submit" button is used, entries cannot be altered.
The winners will be selected and announced soon after the picnic; instructions for prize pick up will be sent to the winners.

Volunteers
Managers and supervisors, if you have not had the chance to sign up to volunteer at the picnic and you want to, click here. For those who are volunteering, there will be a designated table as soon as you come through the entrance; please stop there first to check in.
Managers and supervisors are strongly encouraged to ensure coverage of their areas by increasing staffing on the day of the event so that everyone has a chance to enjoy the picnic.
Gold Rush T-shirts
The WVU Medicine United Way Campaign is working with WVU to make Gold Rush T-shirts available to employees attending the picnic. The shirts are being sold for this year’s WVU Football Gold Rush game, which is Oct. 6 against the Kansas Jayhawks. Shirts are $10 each when purchased on campus. There will be order forms for anyone who wants to order multiple shirts. Proceeds from the shirt sales benefit the United Way of Monongalia and Preston counties. Please bring cash or credit card if you would like to purchase a shirt during the picnic. T-shirts are available first come, first served.
