The Wright Stuff: 200 Nurses in 150 Days

A message to the WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals Family

Whether I’m rounding on a hospital unit, visiting one of our clinics, or stopping by a department, it’s obvious that each of you is working harder than ever before. But you never skip a beat. Our quality and output have never been better, and the feedback we receive from our patients about their experience is overwhelmingly positive.

Because the demand for our services continues to increase, we’re growing. In just 150 days, we’ll be opening our new 10-story tower at Ruby Memorial Hospital. And with that opening comes a great need for RNs.

In 2016 (through July), WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals hired 355 RNs; that’s the same number of nurses we hired during the entire year in 2015. In the next five months, we need to hire 200 more RNs.

We’re launching a full-blown media campaign this week to help with our recruitment efforts. We have found the need to have an especially robust recruitment strategy for RNs compared to other healthcare positions.

We know that WVU Medicine is special place to work and thrive, and we are optimistic that this campaign will help us attract top quality nurses to Morgantown. As an added incentive to work here, we’re offering RNs a $10,000 signing bonus.

We’re also offering enticements to you to help. If you know an RN who wants to work for a dynamic and fast-growing academic medical center, please share with him/her that we’re hiring. If we hire your referral, you can earn up to $2,000 in cash and eight hours of PDO. Complete details are posted on CONNECT.

Referrals (and other interested nurses) can visit wvunurses.com to apply and learn more about our organization and its progressive benefits. On the application, there’s a place for your referral to include your name. It’s really simple.

We wouldn’t be growing and prospering without each of you. You care about this place and make a difference in our patients’ lives every day. Thank you for all you do!
