Visiting Lecturer to Discuss Smoking Cessation

The WVU Department of Pediatrics will host Shawn Ralston, M.D., Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 18-19, as part of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence Visiting Lectureship Program.

During the Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds, Ralston will present "Achieving World Peace and Counseling Parents to Quit Smoking: All in a Day’s work for the Average Pediatrician" from 8-9 a.m. Nov. 19 in Fukushima Auditorium.

Dr. Ralston is the section chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Dartmouth, N.H. She is the editor of "Hospital Pediatrics," the only publication devoted solely to pediatric hospital medicine. Her areas of expertise include pediatric respiratory illnesses, smoking cessation, motivational interviewing, international tobacco control and evidence-based medicine. She was instrumental in developing the clinical practice guidelines on bronchiolitis.
