Volunteers needed for Road to Recovery program

Helpers transport cancer patients to and from treatments

Interested in helping patients make it to cancer treatment? The Road to Recovery program needs volunteers.

Through the Road To Recovery, American Cancer Society (ACS) volunteers provide free transportation for local cancer patients in need of rides to and from cancer treatment. The program began in the 1970s with a committed group of ACS volunteers who saw a need for such a service. The patients assisted through the program might be in need because they do not own a vehicle, cannot afford bus fare, do not live where public transportation is available or do not feel well enough to drive themselves or take public transportation.

There is a need for additional volunteers in the Morgantown and surrounding areas to ensure that patients who need rides to treatment have them. ACS provides training, and the time commitment is flexible based on the volunteers' availability.
