Wheeling radiothon to benefit WVU Children’s Hospital
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Third Annual WKKX Cares for Kids Radiothon benefiting West Virginia University Children’s Hospital will hit the airwaves live on Nov. 2.
WVU Children’s Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network and WKKX (1600 AM) will host the radiothon at Quaker Steak and Lube and will be broadcasting live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3.
Radio personalities will tell stories about children who have benefited from services provided by WVU Children’s Hospital. Patients are also scheduled to visit the radiothon to share their stories on air. Last year’s radiothon raised more than $26,000 in support of WVU Children’s Hospital.
“In 2010, families from the Wheeling area turned to WVU Children’s Hospital more than 9,000 times and found hope and healing. Through the radiothon, the community can learn about the services we provide to children all over the state and region, including those in the Wheeling area,” Cheryl Jones, R.N., director of WVU Children’s Hospital, said. “It helps them understand that if they should ever need us, we’re here to help.”
