WVU Cancer Institute offers tours of new Bonnie’s Bus

A crowd of more than 200 got a firsthand look at the new Bonnie’s Bus that was parked outside of the WVU Health Sciences Center Wednesday, June 28, for tours.

The coach-style bus, equipped with state-of-the-art 3D mammography travels throughout the state, providing mammograms to women with limited access to mammography services. It will replace its predecessor on July 11 when it makes its maiden voyage to the Rowlesburg Clinic in Preston County. Since the program began in 2009, nearly 14,000 screening mammograms have been provided, and 63 cases of breast cancer have been detected.

Many employees toured the bus, including WVU President E. Gordon Gee, and Jo and Ben Statler, who established the Bonnie's Bus Mobile Mammography Program in honor of Bonnie Wells Wilson.

Bonnie's Bus is a program of the WVU Cancer Institute.
