WVU Charleston GHHS Chapter Featured in GHHS National Newsletter

The Gold Humanism Honor Society’s Solidarity Week for Compassionate Patient Care was held across the nation with nearly 90 institutions nationwide participating. The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, sponsors of the GHHS, would like to thank all of our Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapters, medical schools and patient care institutions for not only their involvement but their dedication to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Chapters saw pet therapy sessions, encouragement boards, movie nights and many more activities that engaged the entire healthcare team, including patients.

The West Virginia University Health Sciences Charleston Campus Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter was featured in the foundation’s Spring 2018 newsletter for their “Thank You” campaign.

Dr. Kathleen Bors shared this photo from the newsletter featuring WVU GHHS students Charlotte, Morgan and Rebecca (Zach was away, providing competent and compassionate care on his Rural rotation, according to Dr. Bors). The team created and delivered posters of appreciation to CAMC patients, for allowing our WVU School of Medicine students to care for them: ‘Thank You for letting us be your Medical Students”, signed by the Class of 2018c and Class of 2019c. These banners were posted in entryways and waiting rooms throughout the three CAMC hospitals during Solidarity Week.

Students received many appreciative comments in response from nursing staff, administration, faculty and several patients/families.

The West Virginia University Health Sciences Charleston Campus Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter will hold the GHHS Annual Summit on Thursday, April 5, 2018 entitled, “The Invisible Minority: Healthcare Disparities in Appalachia” and will continue to keep you informed on the exciting day of lectures ahead!
