WVU Gold-Blue spring football game headed to The Greenbrier

The Greenbrier will turn gold and blue again this spring.

West Virginia University football reigns supreme in West Virginia. This year the Big 12 football member will play its popular Gold-Blue Spring Game at The Greenbrier Sports Performance Center on Saturday, April 23.

WVU made the trip to the state-of-the-art facility, the summer home of the New Orleans Saints training camp, last April for a practice. WVU’s spring practice, beginning on March 13, will conclude at The Greenbrier with the annual scrimmage.

“The players and coaches had a great experience at The Greenbrier last year and we are looking forward to playing our spring game there in April,” West Virginia head football coach Dana Holgorsen said. “The facilities are excellent, and the staff went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly. We had a great fan turnout last year and I know it will be even better this year. A lot of WVU events will be taking place surrounding the game, so it will be a great weekend for the University and the state.”

Kickoff is scheduled for noon, with the festivities beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets will be $10/adult and $10/child, and net proceeds will benefit WVU Medicine Children’s. WVU students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.

Information on radio and TV coverage will be announced in the near future and will be posted on the press page of The Greenbrier’s website.

“The Greenbrier is proud to host these young athletes for this annual game,” said The Greenbrier owner Jim Justice. “Fans in this part of the state are going to be thrilled to cheer on their team at The Greenbrier’s state-of-the-art Sports Performance Center. It’s going to be a great day for WVU football at The Greenbrier.”

 Advance tickets are available online.

Parking will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attendees are strongly encouraged to park at Lot U in downtown White Sulphur Springs.
