MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute has opened a clinic in partnership with Highlands Hospital in an effort to bring high quality heart and vascular care to residents of Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Cardiologist Brian Kazienko, M.D., and Cindy McMahon, A.P.P., are seeing patients in the clinic, which is located at 401 East Murphy Ave. in Connellsville.
Dr. Kazienko received his medical degree from the WVU School of Medicine. He then completed an internal medicine residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine.
He and McMahon treat patients with a variety of heart conditions, including:
- Symptoms suggestive of heart disease, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, heart racing, and leg swelling (edema)
- Coronary artery disease
- Need(s) for heart catheterization and opening of blocked arteries
- Valvular heart disease (narrow or leaky valves)
- Heart rhythm issues (palpitations, atrial fibrillation)
- Congestive heart failure
- Peripheral arterial and venous diseases (poor circulation)
- Risk factors for heart disease, such as high cholesterol, hypertension, and family history of heart disease
- Preoperative evaluations
