WVU Medicine closes Incident Command for flood relief; employees donate thousands of supplies

Last week, WVU Medicine physicians, nurses, and advanced practice providers were recruited to assist in three West Virginia towns devastated by the recent flooding. Their efforts continued through this weekend.

The WVU Medicine team assisted local providers and clinics located in Rainelle, Richwood, and Rupert with basic medical care, tetanus immunizations, wound care, and wellness checks in homes.

While the immediate danger of the situation has diminished and WVU Medicine Incident Command has closed, the organization continues to remain available and flexible to meet the needs of the communities and organizations that need support.

In addition to sending volunteers to the areas affected by the flood, WVU Medicine Rosenbaum Family House hosted a collection of emergency relief supplies. The response to the drive was significant, with donations filling several moving vans.

WVU will continue to collect emergency relief supplies at its Stansbury Hall location through this Friday. Learn more.
