WVU Medicine trauma team saves life of Sistersville man wounded in hunting accident (Video)

While heading into the woods to hunt with friends, Randy Ash was the victim of an accidental shooting by a high-powered rifle. The WVU Medicine Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center's staff fought to repair extensive organ, bone, and circulatory system damage throughout his pelvis and abdomen to save his life.

On Oct. 6, the Trauma Center honored three patients during the Seventh Annual Night of Recognition. Along with Ash, of Sistersville, this year's patient honorees were:

  • Luke Mertz of Kitzmiller, Md., who was injured in a dirt bike accident;
  • Bill Ross of Waynesburg, Pa., who was injured in a motorcycle accident;

The WVU Medicine Marketing and Communications Department produced three videos that tell the patients' stories.
