WVU Pharmacy professor recognized for excellence

 
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Gretchen Kreckel Garofoli, Pharm.D., BCACP, was the recipient of the Pharmacists Mutual Companies’ 2011 Distinguished Young Pharmacist award.
 
Dr. Garofoli received the award at the recent West Virginia Pharmacists Association (WVPA) 104th Annual Convention. The award is presented to one pharmacist in each state who displays outstanding clinical, pharmacy and leadership skills, as well as excellence in contributions in state pharmacy association activities and community affairs.
 
Garofoli is a clinical assistant professor in the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy Department of Clinical Pharmacy. Her current practice sites include the Rite Aid pharmacies in Grafton and Westover, W.Va. During her work in these community pharmacies, she provides immunizations and cholesterol, diabetes and hypertension screenings to her patients.
 
As well as immunizations and diabetes, Garofoli’s research interests also include at-home screenings that lead to early detection of diseases.
