WVU to host wound management symposium

Event scheduled for Oct. 28

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  – The new WVU Wound Management Center will sponsor a free “Advanced Wound Healing Symposium” for physicians, nurses, physical therapists and other health professionals from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 in Room B of the WVU Health Sciences Center’s John E. Jones Conference Center.

The lead speakers for the symposium are William Omlie, M.D., a vascular surgeon at the Minnesota Vascular Clinic, and Geoffry Habershaw, D.P.M., a podiatric surgeon with Footcare Specialists of Boston Medical Center.

Topics to be addressed include: acute versus chronic healing, patient and wound assessment, vascular testing, vascular interventions, venous stasis disease, pressure ulcers, excision and debridement, management of diabetic feet, compression dressings, moist dressing method and biologic dressings.
