Preliminary Winners from the 3 Minute Thesis move on

Results of the 3MT® HSC Preliminaries

On March 15, 2016, the Health Sciences Center held its preliminaries for the annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT)® competition. Students from across the Health Sciences Center prepared a single slide and presented their research in under three minutes. The students were judged on criteria in comprehension, engagement, and communication.

The winners of the HSC preliminaries are: 1st place (and $500): Danielle Shepherd; 2nd place (and $250): Breanne Farris; and 3rd place (and $150): Kimberly Alonge. The top two winners will advance to the University grand finale to be held on April 7, 2016, and will compete for a top prize of $2000!

The competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students. Developed by The University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
