The Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB) is a recognized student organization at WVU that works closely with the Student Health Service. It serves as a liaison to the Health Service to ensure quality care by cooperatively working in an advisory capacity with the Student Health Service. This Board is for students wanting to be active in planning health-related events on campus and providing student input into health policies and services on campus.

Membership is open to all WVU students. SHAB members are known for making a positive difference in the lives of students, making lasting friendships, learning new skills, and having fun.

Projects include:

• Representing WVU at regional and national college health functions
• Dollars For Disaster (Tsunami Relief Effort and Hurricane Katrina Effort)
• Flu Immunization Health Sciences Center Clinic (service project)
• K.I.S.S. (Keep It Safer Sweetheart) Valentine Project
• Caritas House Food Drive (service project)
• Dental Kits for the homeless and disadvantaged (service project)
• Creation of Health Promotion Brochures
• Preston County Buckwheat Festival (fundraiser for SHAB projects)
• Fund raising to send students to regional and national meetings
• IHD Learning Program to bring attention to the global impact of HIV Social Activities
• Assisting Health Education Staff with activities and other service projects
• Co-sponsoring with Student Health Service an annual Health Fair
