The Division of Dental Hygiene faculty possess extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of Dental Hygiene. Each of the seven full time and three part time faculty members have earned master’s degrees in various fields such as dental hygiene, public health, business administration, or education. Additionally, two professors possess doctoral degrees. Four of the full time faculty members accrued have over 20 years teaching experience and all faculty have experience working in general or specialty dental practices. Dental Hygiene faculty teach over half of all courses in the dental hygiene curriculum and assist several didactic and laboratory related dental courses.

The faculty have received notoriety by attaining leadership positions in professional associations and committees at the state and national level including American Dental Hygienists’ Association, Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures, American Association for Dental Research, and American Dental Education Association. All faculty are members of Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental hygiene honor society. In addition to providing continuing education courses, dental hygiene faculty have authored three textbooks, numerous chapters in books and countless research articles. Additionally, members of the faculty are involved with several community service activities and organizations that includes Special Smiles, Relay for Life, Ronald McDonald House, geriatric outreach, public school programs, and many local and state health fairs.
