Residents

 

Mike Zaritsky is the 1st year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident at West Virginia University School of Dentistry and Ruby Memorial Hospital having graduated in 2005 from the University of Toronto (DDS). He completed a General Practice Residency Program at the University of North Carolina in 2006. Mike then worked for the University of North Carolina, School of Dentistry as an Associate Professor (staff dentist) in Public Health from 2006-2007, in two practices and educating General Practice Residents throughout the year. Dr. Zaritsky maintains General Dentistry Licenses in North Carolina, West Virginia and Canada.

 

Matthew Comiskey is the 4th year (head resident) in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program at West Virginia University School of Dentistry and Ruby Memorial Hospital. He graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in May 2000. Matt completed the General Practice Residency Program at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia in July 2001. He was a General Dentist with the United States Navy on the USS Oak Hill from July 2001 to June 2003. Matt also completed the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship on June 30, 2004. Upon completion of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program in June 2008, Matt will go into private practice.

 

John "Jay" Schmidt is currently the 3rd year Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. After graduation from dental school in 2000, Jay completed a General Practice Residency at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. He then practiced dentistry in Tucson, Arizona until beginning his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training at West Virginia University School of Dentistry and Ruby Memoral Hospital.

 

Rishad Shaikh originally from Toronto, Canada graduated from Case Western Reserve University's School of Dental Medicine in 2004 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine. After dental school he completed a General Practice Residency in Youngstown, Ohio followed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He is currently in his second year of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program at West Virginia University School of Dentistry and Ruby Memorial Hospital.

 

Todd Hegmann is an Intern in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program at West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in May 2006 after transferring from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas. Todd then completed the General Practice Residency Program at West Virginia University Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry. After completing his internship, Todd plans on continuing his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program.

 

Gino Gismondi is a General Practice Resident in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry. He graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in May 2007. Gino specializes in the dental treatment of the medically compromised and special needs patients in the clinical and operating room settings. Gino also treats patients in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic on a regular basis. Gino hopes to pursue a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

 

Nicholas Hill is a General Practice Resident in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry. Nick is from Madison, WV and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences in 2003 from West Virginia University. He graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in May 2007. Nick hopes to further his career by entering an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program next year.
