Presidents Message - Cathy Funk Amores, Class of 1998
Celebrate! We Are Mountaineers! The School of Medicine Alumni Association provides us the opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments in this noble profession and serve the needs of the medical school, alumni, students and faculty.
Do you recall when you received your acceptance to medical school? You celebrated! This was the first of many celebrations that have occurred as we have developed in our career and the Alumni Association has been a part of many of them. Do you remember the day you were called "Doctor"? You celebrated!
The WVU School of Medicine Alumni Association has continued to honor us with providing an organization that is nationally recognized for its passion for its alumni and institution. What about your class reunion? You celebrated! The Alumni Association grants us the tools to stay linked and exchange ideas. In the near future, we will be able to promote the excellence and diversity of our alumni with an interactive directory and web site.
The Alumni Association is our connection to each other and to the School of Medicine. It maintains the celebration. The alumni help students celebrate their journey from family orientation day to the graduation brunch. Students are honored by alumni with the White Coat Ceremony and the Professional Integrity Ceremony. Alumni understand the struggles of the cost of a medical education and support with scholarships, endowments and the Mountaineer Mentor program. We celebrate with the students because it is who we are. The faculty and education system are celebrated by alumni with recognition and distinction for their accomplishments.
I encourage you to celebrate who we are by becoming a member of the School of Medicine Alumni Association. Become a life member! We Are Mountaineers! Celebrate!
