An 86 year-old female presented to the ENT clinic with a several week history of a left-sided facial mass. Physical examination revealed a slightly tender mass in the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland. The patient denied any facial pain, numbness or tingling. A review of her physical signs failed to demonstrate facial weakness or paresthesia. An outpatient Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) was diagnosed as suspicious for pleomorphic adenoma. The patient denied any history of alcohol or tobacco use. Outpatient computed tomography (CT) scans were unavailable at the time of surgery.
