The cytogenetics laboratory has been studying cells from patients that are mosaic, with both normal diploid and trisomy cells. Studies have involved looking at cell division and cell death between the two cell lines to help understand why the abnormal cell line declines over time in culture.  In addition, telomere lengths are being studied using DNA probes. Since telomeres shorten with each cell division, measurements will be compared between the normal and abnormal cell lines to determine if there is a relationship to loss of the abnormal cell line over time.
