1989 Recipient - David Z. Morgan, MD (Class of 1950)

David Z. MorganDr. Morgan lives in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was named the WVU School of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus for 1989.

Dr. Morgan received his BS in Medicine in 1950 from WVU and his MD from Medical College of Virginia in 1952.

He served his internship at the Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling, WV, from 1952-1953 and the WVU School of Medicine Department of Pathology from 1954-1955.

From 1955-1961, Dr. Morgan went into private practice in Morgantown. In 1961, he returned to the WVU Hospital as an internal medicine resident until 1963.

Dr. Morgan has served academic appointments in the WVU School of Medicine Department of Medicine as instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and professor.

He also served as assistant dean, associate dean for student affairs, Outreach consultant, director of Continuing Medical Education, associate dean for Medical Affairs, and director of the Geriatric Program for the WVU School of Medicine.

Dr Morgan has received honors in Excellence in Teaching Award for the Class of 1970; Karen R. King Person of the Year by PATCH (Planned Approach to Community Health) in 1990; and Most Loyal Mountaineer in 1988.

He holds three full professorships in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry.

Dr. Morgan established the "Bradford Laidley 65+ Clinic" as part of the WVU School of Medicine Geriatric Medicine Program.
