Gary Loyd, M.D., Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, effective July 2005.
Prior to coming to WVU, Dr. Loyd was Assistant Dean for Education and Patient Simulation at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Loyd is considered a pioneer in the use of patient simulators in medical training, and was co-editor of a 2004 medical textbook, “Practical Healthcare Simulations.” |

Stephen H. Bush, M.D., Chair of the Obstetrics & Gynecology, Charleston Division, effective July 2005
Dr. Bush is a WVU School of Medicine alumnus who completed his residency training at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV. Following his residency, Dr. Bush built a very successful private practice in the Charleston, while continuing to participate as a volunteer clinical faculty for the WVU School of Medicine, Charleston Division. |

James G. Arbogast, M.D., Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, effective September 2005.
Dr. Arbogast joined WVU School of Medicine in 1980 as an instructor of family medicine, and has served as a faculty member at WVU for over 25 years. |

Giovanni Piedimonte, M.D., Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, effective January 2006.
Dr. Piedimonte joins WVU from the University of Miami, where he established the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and was also Director of the Asthma Center, the fellowship training program in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine, and the Cystic Fibrosis Center at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. He was a member of the University of Miami ’s Department of Pediatrics since 1995, with joint appointments in Medicine and Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology. |

Mike Vernon, Ph.D., was appointed interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective January 2006.
Dr. Vernon received an undergraduate degree in Vertebrate Physiology from the University of Kentucky, a Masters degree in Reproductive Physiology from Eastern Kentucky, and a Ph.D in Reproductive Endocrinology from the University of Florida. |

David Wilks, M.D., Assistant Dean for Medical Education Technology and Vice Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, effective May 2006.
Prior to coming to WVU, Dr. Wilks served as an Assistant Dean at the University of New Mexico. In this role, he was very instrumental in developing their world class simulation program. |

Robert J. Beto, M.D., Section Chief of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine, effective July 2006.
Dr. Beto, an interventional cardiologist who holds degrees in both medicine and pharmacy, has been a member of the WVU faculty since 2003, and has provided heart care to thousands of patients from across West Virginia since 1999. |

Ann Chinnis, M.D., was named Executive Director for the EPIC Information System implementation as well as Associate Dean for Clinical Informatics for the School of Medicine.
Dr. Chinnis was former chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. |

Todd J. Crocco, M.D., interim Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, effective July 2006.
Dr. Crocco has served as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at WVU. Prior to being named interim chair, Dr. Crocco assumed several roles in the department including vice chair, Research Director and Medical Director. |

Daniel Flynn, Ph.D., was named Deputy Director of the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center effective July 2006.
Prior to joining the WVU faculty in 1992, Dr. Flynn did postdoctoral work at the University of Virginia Cancer Center for four years. He obtained his doctorate in virology from North Carolina State University in 1988 and a bachelor ’s degree in microbiology and biochemistry from the University of Maryland in 1981. His expertise is in the area of signal transduction, where his work focuses on how tumor cells propagate cellular signals that promote cancer cells to become invasive. |

Diana Beattie, Ph.D., was appointed Dean of Oman Medical College, undergraduate division, in Muscat, Oman, effective July 2006.
Dr. Beattie, who has served as chair of the biochemistry and molecular pharmacology department at West Virginia University ’s School of Medicine for over 21 years. |

James O’Donnell, Ph.D., interim Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, effective July 2006.
Dr. O’Donnell, a former professor at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, joined the School of Medicine last year and has served as a professor in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, with a joint appointment in Neurobiology and Anatomy. |
