Introduction
Message from the President

David C. Hardesty, Jr.The faculty, staff, and students of the WVU School of Medicine provide health care to hundreds of thousands of West Virginians annually while conducting potentially life-saving research in order to address our state ’s most critical health problems.

Next year’s opening of the Biomedical Sciences Research Center will accelerate the progress of the School’s bold strategic research plan. In addition, there are several new developments on the horizon that will provide our students with access to state-of-the-art learning tools.

An expansion of patient care space at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center will enable faculty and students to provide cutting-edge care at the state ’s only comprehensive cancer center.

As I prepare to retire from the presidency, I am confident that the School of Medicine’s remarkable progress will continue.

Above all, the dedication and talent of faculty, staff, and students will ensure that the School of Medicine remains one of West Virginia ’s greatest sources of pride for years to come.

David C. Hardesty, Jr.
