
WVU Center for Advanced Imaging was awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging of cardiology, oncology, and neurology as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Gannett News Service awarded five stars, the highest available ranking, to WVU Hospitals in both heart attack care and heart failure care.
Solucient, an information products company, recognized the WVU Hospitals (WVUH) for the second consecutive year for its performance improvement efforts. WVUH was the only West Virginia hospital on the list and one of only 15 major teaching hospitals in the country recognized.

Under the direction of Sanford Emery, M.D., Professor & Chair, Department of Orthopaedics, WVU established a Sports Medicine Center. This Center is located in 3,500 square feet space in the Healthworks Rehabilitation and Fitness Center in Morgantown.

For the second consecutive year, the WVU Center of Excellence for Women’s Health was awarded five certificates of excellence from the Office of Women’s Health in: clinical service, professional education, outreach, research, and leadership.
WVU Hospitals has been designated a Center of Excellence by NeuroSource, Inc., a national consulting firm that assists hospitals in evaluating and improving their neurology and neurosurgery programs.

The WVU Pediatric Ground Transport Team began to offer a state-of-the-art mobile intensive care unit that provides ground transport of critically ill pediatric patients from referral sites throughout West Virginia and surrounding areas.

A $21 million, 43,000 square feet construction project is in progress at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. The renovations will include; doubling the size of the clinic, additional exam rooms, larger waiting areas, more efficient patient registration, a patient library, and easier access to the hospital’s services. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2008.
