Every year before the new class of Medical Students begin their medical school classes they go attend a weeklong orientation. This year the M.D. Degree class of 2013 spent a week at orientation where the members of the class got to meet their new classmates, the professors, learn where everything is in the Health Sciences Center, receive advice from older medical students and start building their WVU School of Medicine family.

This year the students enjoyed a day at adventure camp learning new skills, meeting members of the Morgantown, Charleston, and Eastern campus, and mostly importantly building their communication skills. Because as the previous classes of WVU medical students will tell you, it is your classmates and professors that make your medical school experience so wonderful at WVU.

After adventure camp the students attended professional development, learned how to use their new computers, became CPR certified, and received an overview of the next four years of their lives. At the end of an exciting week their parents got to attend their own orientation to learn about what they can do to support their medical student. After the parent orientation the parents and medical students attended the Oath of Integrity Ceremony where the entering medical student takes the Hippocratic oath and makes their pledge to help treat and prevent diseases their patients have.
