| School of Medicine September 2009 2009 Archives: 2008 Archives: The Health Science and Technology Academy (HSTA) celebrates its 15th year anniversary this fall.
This fall marks the fifteenth anniversary of the Health Science and Technology Academy or HSTA. HSTA was born at WVU in 1994 and has spread to a state wide program to help students attend and succeed in college. This year 184 students completed the HSTA program and 56 are now freshmen at WVU. HSTA’s mission is increase the number of under represented students in West Virginia that attend college, study science and healthcare, and to increase the number of health care providers in the rural communities of West Virginia. The Incoming M.D. Degree Class enjoy a Day at Adventure Camp during their 2009 Orientation.
Every year before the new class of Medical Students begin their medical school classes they go attend a weeklong orientation. This year the M.D. Degree class of 2013 spent a week at orientation where the members of the class got to meet their new classmates, the professors, learn where everything is in the Health Sciences Center, receive advice from older medical students and start building their WVU School of Medicine family. |
