General Psychiatry - Program Leadership
Ryan Finkenbine, MD, associate professor, has been the general psychiatry program director since 2004. He is a graduate of Wittenberg University and Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. He received advanced training in forensic psychiatry at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is the recipient of a national award for teaching (AAPL 2003) and is frequently recognized for his innovative contributions to program development. He has been with the department since 1999.
Kristina Curci, MD, assistant professor in the department since July 2000, completed her residency at West Virginia University School of Medicine where she was the Educational and Administrative Chief Resident. She attended Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts for her undergraduate education then West Virginia University School of Medicine for her medical doctorate in 1995. Dr. Curci is the Associate Training Director of the program and has been instrumental in the development of fourth year electives and residency fellowships. She is also the Director of Consult and Liaison Psychiatry and a lead clinician in the Geriatric Psychiatry Program.
Sophia Beinek-Cate, MA-ALPS, has been program coordinator since 2006. She received her MA in counseling psychology from West Virginia University and worked for 10 years as a therapist before joining the department. Her wealth of ideas and exceptional interpersonal skills have contributed in novel and meaningful ways to the residency experience.
Lova Oliver, BS, residency coordinator, provides information and support for residents and faculty on a wide range of residency personnel and program issues. She actively assists in the recruitment and selection of new residents. Ms. Oliver, a recent graduate of Fairmont State University with a degree in Business Management, is also responsible for maintaining a database for meeting ACGME requirements. She serves as an approachable interface between the residency, psychology interns, child fellows, and medical students programs.
