Dr. Geri Dino received her PhD in experimental psychology from Kansas State University. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and the Principal Investigator and Director of the West Virginia Prevention Research Center (WV PRC), one of 33 Prevention Research Centers funded competitively by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The WVU PRC collaborates with public health agencies and communities to conduct, translate, and disseminate interdisciplinary research designed to improve population health. Its research agenda focuses on reducing chronic disease risk factors and health disparities related to race/ethnicity, geography, and socioeconomic status. Dr. Dino’s primary research interests include adolescent smoking cessation, child obesity prevention, and program and system-level evaluation. She co-authored the American Lung Association’s national and international teen smoking cessation program, Not-On-Tobacco (N-O-T). N-O-T is designated as a SAMHSA Model Program, an Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Model Program, and a National Cancer Institute Research Tested Intervention Program. It Dr. Dino serves as an advisor to state and national health-related organizations, and in state and national leadership positions.
