Ruth Kershner, EdD
Ruth has been affiliated with the Community Health Promotion Division since 1991. She is a registered nurse, West Virginia certified in school health, and is nationally credentialed as a health education specialist. She teaches undergraduate courses in school health and a variety of graduate courses. She also serves as the alcohol educator for the School of Medicine.
Dr. Kershner is interested in substance abuse education, violence prevention, rape prevention education, women's health, nursing care of the elderly, and hospice. She has presented at state, national, and international conferences about her research area: rape prevention. She also works in the community as a volunteer nurse, with community social justice groups, PATCH, to name a few. She is a visiting assistant professor in the School of Physical Education and also serves as a faculty associate in the Center for Women's Studies.
