August 31, 2004: This Month's edition of The Center lists
the May 2004 promotions in the HSC. A number of individuals were promoted,
including 4 who were promoted and tenured. Among those 4, Ruth Turner Goins of
the Center on Aging was promoted to Associate Professor and tenured. There
were 10 grants of Emeritus status. Leading the list alphabetically and in our
hearts, Bill Carlton. Also on the list, Gordon Murray, MD, who brought
cardiovascular surgery to prominence at WVU, and parent of Bill Murray.
August 16, 2004: The
Dominion Post published an article about the Center for Rural Emergency
Medicine. The focus of the article was new CREM director, Jeff Coben, MD. In
addition, there was specific praise for Jim Helmkamp's nationally recognized ATV

August 11, 2004:
CMED was mentioned in the July-Aug edition of Research America's
newsletter, "Membership Matters." The Media/Science Forum entitled
"Turning Research into News" (hosted by WVU PRC), mentioned a conference that featured WV news leaders (Hoppy
Kercheval and Vicki Smith from Associated Press), and mentioned WVU researchers
Joel Halverson, Turner Goins, and Alan Ducatman.
