The Office of Health Services Research (OHSR) has more than 30 years history of
involvement in health-related research and service activities.
OHSR is a broad-based organization serving the threefold mission of a land-grant
university -- service, research, and education. OHSR's primary goal is to facilitate
improvement in the health and health care of West Virginians by providing applied research,
planning and resource development, analytical data management, and other consultative
services for health and related agencies throughout the State.
OHSR, in partnership with the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health,
works with primary care sites state-wide to help improve the quality of care provided to patients with
chronic disease. This is a two-fold effort, comprised of 1) support in use of electronic systems to
monitor and target care and 2) best practices education on chronic disease prevention and management.
As of 2009, the OHSR is working with 50+ primary care sites in quality assurance and improvement efforts. We
tailor our efforts to meet the needs of each individual site; recognizing the uniqueness
of each care site. Please see the state-wide and national support maps below for a view of the care sites with which
our office is currently partnering. (Click on the titles below to view the live maps.)
