The WVU Office for Public Health Practice is proud of our mission, we are the link between academia and public health practice to bridge the gap between medicine and public health. Our mission includes among others, the goal of identifying community based learning opportunities which can serve as classrooms for a new generation of health science professionals.
The WVU Office for Public Health Practice (WVU OPHP) is located in the Department of Community Medicine (CMED). The WVU OPHP has service, educational, and research functions. We are developing and “Cultivating a Tradition of Excellence in Outreach and Continuing Education.”

The WVU OPHP offers an active, free, continuing education program, the Public Health Grand Rounds. This program offers free continuing education credits for physicians, nurses, public health practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, certified health education specialists, and more.  We webcast the monthly sessions, as both simulcast and archived for all who would like to view this at a later time. The speaker’s presentation and the power point slides are part of the presentation. The webcast is viewed live and from archives regionally, nationally and beyond. We get hundreds of hits for some of these, in the days immediately following the lecture.
